This was one of my favorite things about our Disney Cruise, it was so easy to make new friends! Disney intentionally sits smaller parties with other parties that are similar so we were seated with two other moms and their teenagers. This ended up working out great for everyone and by the end of the trip we had all exchanged numbers with hopes of doing a cruise at the same time again some day. I also met other Disney Adults at adult only events on the ship, like wine tasting, which was a pretty seamless way to meet new people with similar interests. This is something that just doesn't happen quite as naturally and seamlessly at Disneyland or Walt Disney World unless you're local to the area. Ahead of your cruise, you’ll be able to do Online Check-In to complete and print important documents.
What do you need for online check in?
Extra care was put into the design of your stateroom (your “hotel room” on the ship). You’ll find space-maximizing designs like hideaway bedding, under-bed storage space, and room dividers. Most stateroom bathrooms are in a split configuration that allows two people to get ready at the same time. For example, some Disney cruises have a Pirate Night where everyone dresses up as pirates, enjoys a special meal, and then heads up to the pool deck for a pirate-themed party. It’s no surprise that Disney ships host Disney characters throughout the journey.
Plan to exchange your currency onboard.

All of the Disney Cruise Line live shows will take place on each ship's stage theater. Each of these theaters is large enough to fit everyone but there are typically two show times offered each night. There was really no need to line up early for the showtimes unless you preferred to sit near the front of the stage or in the center.
Themed Nights and Themed Cruises
You can fill this out to the best of your ability during the check-in process. If you don’t yet have all of this information, you can always go back later and correct it. For example, you can choose to arrive by car if you don’t have your flight information yet. When you choose to apply (and are approved) for a new credit card through our site, we may receive compensation from our partners, and this may impact how or where these products appear. Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. If you enjoy wine or beer out on your veranda, you can save a little cash by bringing your own alcohol onboard, with limits.
Future Ships
Disney introduced the cruise industry’s first-ever fireworks at sea. It won’t quite be the same as what you’d see inside Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, but it’s still quite impressive. Perhaps you’re wondering what’s the big deal about cruising with Disney. Or maybe you have taken another cruise before and aren’t sure if Disney will be that different. Here are a few quick highlights of the things that make a Disney Cruise special, whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned cruiser.

Disney designed its staterooms thoughtfully, with sensible layouts and extra storage space that’s perfect for families. You’ll have a stateroom host who provides daily housekeeping and a nightly turndown service. Your cruise fare includes your stateroom, most meals (including room service), most non-alcoholic drinks, live entertainment, pools & water slides, most onboard activities, and taxes & fees.
Dinner (Rotational Dining)
As with the waterslides, we recommend enjoying these first thing when you board if you want to try them without crowds. Otherwise, you won't find so many people in the pools on port days, early in the morning and right before dinner. There are thousands of people on the ship and only a few small pools, so plan accordingly. Little cruisers can be transformed into a princess or pirate at sea at the onboard Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which does themed kid makeovers and sells costumes as part of the package. You'll need an appointment; expect to pay $100 to $200 for most packages. The Senses Spa & Salon is a full-service spa with everything from massages to pedicures and hair care.
Ratings and Reviews

If you are taking your photos with your iPhone, you will need to export your photos as jpg. Shari is an experienced planner and organizer for Disney vacations, cruising, and U.S. travel. Her family vacation information, reviews, and tips provide insight for moms and dads everywhere. You can read more about her story, including her journey through breast cancer, in the about me page. Just like the section above, you can choose the activity and time that works best for you!
There are four main types of staterooms to pick from, and the price changes based on what you pick. ✔️ Your cruise will visit different ports, allowing you to exit the ship and experience a new area and culture. Although it’s free to leave the ship and explore on your own, you might choose to take a Port Adventure. This is a paid activity, usually organized by a tour operator who has an agreement with Disney. A big part of booking your Disney Cruise is picking your itinerary — which ship you’re on, when/where the cruise begins, where it goes, and how long it lasts.
Bring your patience; the website can be glitchy, especially when check-in first opens, with many people attempting to check in. If you are using Disney transportation and are not concerned with an early PAT, it might be best to wait and check in later. You will need information about your plans before & after the cruise.
If the kids are happy for a few hours, the parents can actually relax, too. If you want to be more active, head to your ship's sports deck to play basketball, foosball, miniature golf and more. You may even have some sports simulator options beyond your traditional in-person fun. This is a fun thing to do before meeting a princess, before a more formal night or anytime you want to see a huge smile on your kid's face. If you have a princess dress or outfit from home you want to use or reuse, you can purchase a cheaper package at Bibbidi Bobbidi.
Some travel agencies offer up to $1,000 in onboard credit for Disney Cruises. Most travel agencies don’t charge any planning fees to book cruises through them, so it truly is free money for those already planning a cruise. One popular offering is the Halloween on the High Seas cruise, which includes a giant pumpkin tree in the ship atrium, costume parties, and trick-or-treating. Very Merrytime cruises bring the holidays onboard, with Christmas trees, gingerbread houses, and visits from Santa. Another reason to consider going through a travel agent is to get onboard credit. Some travel agents will offer onboard credit based on the amount you spend on your Disney cruise.
While room service is free, it's customary to add a few dollars of tip when you sign the "bill." On Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the teen club has its own set of small pools at the front of the ship. Your little one has to be potty trained to use the onboard pools. The option for those still in swim diapers is some splash areas, such as Nemo's Reef and Dory's Reef. Each Disney ship has multiple pools, though if you've never been on a cruise, you may be initially shocked at how small they are — and how busy they can get. If you happen to be at sea when a new Disney movie premieres on land, you'll also get that same first look at sea.
Disney has five ships to choose from, with three more under construction. Disney also sells ground transfers that will get you from select airports to the departure port, and to/from Disney Cruise Line’s approved hotels. Their services are completely free, and there’s absolutely no obligation to book when you contact them. Working with an Earmarked Diamond Level Authorized Disney Vacation Planner such as The Vacationeer is the best way for first-timers to plan a cruise.
